"Struggles" may concern awkward arrangements, and "take a friend" may reflect steep or even stepped ramps needing great effort to negotiate. "Long-winded" includes going down to one platform, buying your ticket, then having to get back up to overbridge level and across to the other platform. B refers to the Birmingham-bound platform - New Street or Snow Hill. If this is inappropriate, the first listed station provides its first letter instead. The second letter describes the platform for the opposite direction on that line (e.g. C for Coventry), since access levels can be quite different for the two sides. Where the situation is complex, as at Barnt Green and Wolverhampton, platform numbers are assigned as well. E.g. B2/3 S1/4/5. [N.B.: in large stations, platforms may be bi-directional.] All sketches show direction but do not indicate the platform. |

Descriptions have been assembled over a long period and may vary in interpreting the difficulty wheeled users may encounter (e.g. identical slopes getting different gradings). If you feel the grading is wrong (or has changed), or if you find other errors, or believe that you can add information of value to others, please contact Dudley Mall at the address below.
